Leniency to Apply for the Subclass 870 Visa in Australia

Subclass 870 Sponsored Temporary Parent visa - Permission to Lodge Onshore

The regulations permits the Minister to allow on a case-by-case basis for applicants to apply for the Subclass 870 Sponsored Temporary Parent visa whilst they are in Australia. The Parent Processing Centre has been lenient with these requests during this COVID-19 period and many have been approved.

However, to be granted permission the parent cannot currently hold an onshore visa with a condition 8503 (No Further Stay) or 8543. The condition must be waived before applying.

If you or your parents are stuck in Australia, it is worthwhile to consider applying for this visa to extend your stay in Australia. To find out more, contact us.
