Northern Territory (NT) 2024-25 State and Territory Nomination Allocations 

The Australian Government has announced the allocation of places for the Northern Territory (2024-25) General Skill Migration program year: 

MigrationNT is currently accepting and assessing onshore applications for nomination. Offshore applications are temporarily suspended, but existing ones will continue to be assessed. Offshore applications are anticipated to reopen with revised settings after 12 August 2024

What are the Visa Options?

Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190) Visa 

  • Nomination Requirement: You must obtain a nomination from an Australian state or territory government, such as the Northern Territory Government. 

  • Living Commitment: Upon being nominated, you are expected to live and work in the Northern Territory for at least three years from the date of visa grant. 

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (Subclass 491) Visa 

  • Nomination Requirement: You need a nomination from an Australian state or territory government or an eligible family member. 

  • Living Commitment: You and your dependents must live, work, and study in the Northern Territory for at least three years before qualifying for a permanent residency pathway.  

What are the Northern Territory Government Nomination Requirements? 

To be nominated by the Northern Territory Government for a skilled visa (Subclass 190 or Subclass 491), you must: 

  1. Meet Australian Government Requirements: Fulfil the standard eligibility criteria set by the Australian Government.

  • Skills Assessment: Hold a valid Skills Assessment in an occupation listed on the Skilled Occupation List

  • Points Requirement: Achieve a minimum of 65 points on the Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect

What are the steps for the NT Nomination Application?

  1. Check Visa Eligibility: Assess your eligibility against the Department of Home Affairs requirements, including age, English proficiency, skills assessment, and migration points test. 

  2. NT Nomination Eligibility: Ensure you meet the specific Northern Territory nomination criteria

  3. Submit EOI: Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect. 

  4. Apply for NT Nomination: Use the online application system to apply for Northern Territory Government nomination. 

  5. Receive Invitation: If nominated, you will receive a SkillSelect invitation to apply for your visa. 

  6. Apply for Visa: Submit your visa application through your Immi Account

  7. Visa Decision: The Department of Home Affairs will notify you of the decision regarding your visa application. 

  8. Commit to NT: If your visa is granted, commit to living and working in the Northern Territory.
