Increase in Citizenship Application Fees in Effect Starting 1 July 2023

The Australian Federal Government has recently approved the Australian Citizenship Amendment (Indexation of Citizenship Application Fees) Regulations 2023.  

The legislative instrument passed on 19 June 2023, amended the Australian Citizenship Act of 2007 and increased the citizenship application fees effective by 1 July 2023. Refer to the table below:

Australian citizenship by conferral — Other situations (Form 1290) - For applicants who were granted Australian citizenship other than general eligibility but no citizenship test required

Child 15 years or younger applying on the same form as parent / Fee exemption	N/A
Australian citizenship by descent (Form 118) - For applicants whose parents are Australian citizens but was born outside Australia
Single application / First sibling when two or more siblings apply	$345
Second and succeeding sibling applying at the same time	$145
Australian citizenship for children adopted under full Hague Convention or bilateral arrangements (Form 1272) - For applicants adopted in accordance with the Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption, or through a bilateral arrangement
Single application / First sibling when two or more siblings apply	$345
Second and succeeding sibling applying at the same time	$145
Renunciation of Australian citizenship (Form 128) - For applicants who have renounced their Australian citizenship
Renunciation of Australian citizenship	$290
Resumption of Australian citizenship (Form 132) - For applicants who previously renounced Australian citizenship and want to restore their citizenship again
Resumption of Australian citizenship	$230
Child 15 years or younger applying on the same form as parent	N/A
Evidence of Australian citizenship (Form 119) - For applicants who want to secure a copy of their certificate of Australian citizenship
Separate application for evidence of Australian citizenship	$265
Application for replacement of evidence of Australian citizenship lost, destroyed or damaged due to a natural disaster	N/A
