Subclass 601 Electronic Travel Authority Visa

The Subclass 601 Electronic Travel Authority visa is meant for applicants planning a visit to Australia for tourism, to visit family or friends, or to engage in some business visitor activities. An Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) generally valid for a period of twelve months from the date of issuance, and a maximum of 3 months stay is allowed each time the applicant enters Australia.

To apply for an ETA order you must be a non-resident of Australia and holding a valid ETA passport.

What Is The ETA Application Process?

+ How is a valid application made?

An application for an Electronic Travel Authority (Class UD) visa that is made in Australia (except in immigration clearance), or outside Australia, is taken to have been validly made if the applicant, when seeking the grant of the visa, whether:

  • in person; or

  • by telephone; or

  • by written communication (including facsimile message or email); or

  • by electronic transmission using a computer; or

  • in any other manner approved in writing by the Minister;

provides his or her passport details to:

  • a diplomatic, consular or migration office maintained by or on behalf of the Commonwealth outside Australia; or

  • an office of an agent who is approved in writing by the Minister.

  • Genuinely intends to visit Australia temporarily as a tourist or to engage in a business visitor activity.

  • Meet character and health requirements.

The visa application charge is NIL. However, there is an online application service charge of AUD20
