Preventing Coronavirus and Risk of Visa Cancellation in Australia
To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Department of Home Affairs has imposed a number of changes and restrictions. Their news is published on their website.
This can be summarised as follows.
Anyone who has left or transited mainland child from 01 February will be denied entry into or transiting in Australia except Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, immediate family members of Australian citizens and permanent residents being spouses, minor dependents and legal guardians.
All temporary visa holders will be canceled at immigration clearance if found to have been in mainland China from 01 February 2020 for those not exempted.
What Does This Mean For Australian Visa Applicants?
Temporary visa holders such as 457, subclass 482 visa, and student (500) visa holders risk having their visa cancelled and attracting a 3 year bar by attempting to enter into Australia despite having been in Australia from 01 February 2020. There will usually be no review rights when a visa is cancelled in immigration clearance or outside of Australia, and you will be removed from Australia on the first opportunity available.
