What is the Subclass 115/835 Remaining Relative Visa?
The Remaining Relative Visas (RRV) (Subclass 115 or Subclass 835) allow individuals whose only near relatives are permanent residents (PR) or citizens of Australia to come to Australia indefinitely. These visas enable applicants to reunite with family members who can sponsor them.

What are the sponsorship requirements of the Remaining Relative Visa (Subclass 115/835)?
Your sponsor must be a settled Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen who is at least 18 years old. In certain cases, a child under 18 may also act as a sponsor. Speak to an immigration lawyer to learn more.
The sponsor must agree to provide you and any included family members with support, accommodation, and financial assistance for the first two years of your stay in Australia.
What are the eligibility criteria for the Remaining Relative Visa (Subclass 115/ 835)?
To qualify for either visa, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
You must have a qualifying sponsor.
A person or organisation must provide a legal document (Assurance of Support) ensuring you will not rely on government support for two years after arrival.
Can I have multiple assurors?
Yes, you can have up to 3 individuals provide this assurance.
What about the bond?
Your assurer must lodge a monetary bond with the Department. The bond will be refunded after 2 years minus any social security payments you received.
Your only near relative must reside in Australia.
You must meet the necessary health and character criteria.
How long does it take to process a Remaining Relative Visa (Subclass 115/ 835)?
The number of Remaining Relative visas granted each financial year is limited, which leads to long waiting times. Applications are processed in the order they are received, and once the quota is reached, no further visas will be granted for that year.
