How Can I Expedite My Partner Visa Application?

Don’t think you can wait for a permanent partner visa grant? Applying for a Partner visa can be a long process to reach permanent residency (PR). However, you may wonder if there are ways to shorten the processing time.

What Are the Ways to Expedite Your Partner Visa Application?

  1. One of the most effective ways to prevent delays is to ensure that your application is at a “perfect lodgement” stage. This means that all forms are completed accurately and signed where required. Additionally, include all necessary documents that support your application, such as proof of your relationship, financial documents, and identity verification.

  2. If you are able to provide evidence of an ongoing and genuine relationship by meeting all four pillars of the framework, this can help your application.

  3. Additionally, a separate way to a possible shorter partner visa processing time is if you are in a “long-term partner relationship”. Your visa application may be double granted for both temporary (Subclass 820/309) and permanent (Subclass 801/100) visas at the same time. The definition of “long-term partner relationship” by the Department of Home Affairs (DoHA) is:

    1. If you have been in a relationship with your spouse or de facto partner for over 2 years and with children.

    2. If you have been in a relationship with your spouse or de facto partner for over 3 years and have no children.

  4. Also, if you think you meet the “long-term partner relationship”, you can engage with an immigration lawyer to assist you in putting together a legal submission to the DoHA to build stronger evidence for your partner visa application.
