The Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa (Subclass 870) offers a pathway for Australian citizens and permanent residents (PR) to sponsor their parents to stay in Australia temporarily for up to 5 years, with the possibility of extending their stay for another 5 years.
What is the Current Income Threshold for Subclass 870?
Sponsors for Sponsored Parent Visa (Subclass 870) must demonstrate an annual income of at least equal to, or greater than AUD 83,454.80.
If you are applying with a partner (i.e., a spouse), their income may also be included to meet the income threshold. The combined income must be at least AUD 83,454.80 and your salary as the main sponsor has to be at least 50% of the income amount.
To satisfy this requirement, sponsors must provide supporting evidence of their income. Acceptable documents include:
Recent payslips and tax returns
Employment contracts
There is no income threshold requirement for the other parent visa subclasses.
